Sarah Van Waardhuizen
Sarah
Van Waardhuizen is Director of Choral Activities at Johnston High School in
Johnston, Iowa. She directs the Chamber Choir, co-directs the Mixed Choir
and directs the varsity show choir, Innovation. She oversees the All-State
process, Madrigal Dinner and Showzam!, a Show Choir Competition held
annually in January. Van Waardhuizen is currently the Repertoire and
Standards Chair for Iowa Show Choir.
She is originally from Hudson, Iowa where she was under the direction of Ms.
Nancy Allen. She proceeded to Drake University and worked with Leanne
Freeman-Miller, Dr. Aimee Beckmann-Collier and Dr. Virginia Bennett. She is
planning to continue to work on her graduate degree in choral pedagogy from
KU this summer.
Sarah and her husband Shane live in Johnston and enjoy spending time with
their daughter who will turn 2 in July, Ella Grace. (she can't wait to be in

Ted Brimeyer
Theodore (Ted) Brimeyer is currently in his third year as Associate Vocal Music Director at Johnston High School. Mr. Brimeyer directs Concert Choir and Bass Clef Choir and co-directs Select Treble Clef Choir and Mixed Chorus. He also directs Synergy, the junior varsity show choir. Choirs under his direction have earned Division I ratings at State Large Group Festival. During the 2008-2009 school year he had the privilege to direct the JHS Concert Band and assist in directing the award-winning Varsity Marching Dragons.
Mr. Brimeyer is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University. He graduated with distinction from Iowa State University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Music Education, minoring in German. He has studied conducting with David Rayl, Jonathan Reed, and James Rodde. His voice teachers include Molly Fillmore and Donald Simonson.
Mr. Brimeyer is in his sixth year directing the Chancel Choir at Ankeny First United Methodist Church. He enjoys cooking, being outdoors, and spending time with his wife Elyse, daughter Malley, and dog Rufus.
