What is VPA, Anyway?
The Johnston High
School Vocal Music Parents Association (VPA) is a parents group that supports all vocal music programs at
Johnston
High School. Theres
been a misconception that it supports only show choir, but thats not true; all
choral groups are represented!
Here are just a few
VPA responsibilities.
-
Help the directors plan,
organize and operate SHOWZAM!, our annual show choir invitational and primary fundraiser
-
Organize and staff special
events, such as the Young Americans visit
-
Fit students for choir
robes and costumes
-
Organize transportation and
lodging for choir trips
-
Raise funds for necessary
items and projects, such as new risers
-
Communicate with parents
about upcoming needs and events
VPA meetings are
open to any parent of a JHS vocal music
student. The meetings typically are held the first Thursday of each month, September
through June, at 6 p.m. in the JHS choir room. If
you have a special talent youd like to use to benefit our programs, or if youd
simply like to see what were all about, by all means -- please join us!
